Hiap Joo Bakery is one of Johor’s oldest and best known traditional bakery offering good fresh malt-flavoured breads and aromatic banana cakes. Even in the modern era, breads and cakes in Hiap Joo are still baked using the classical way, wood fire in the same soot coated, clay brick, kiln-like oven since it was founded. The wood used to fire the oven are mostly discards from construction sites brought here by building contractors.
