This structure course aimed  is to expose students with knowledge in Research Surface Methodology and enhance students’ skill in using the software in research. This structure course also held to guide and share techniques on employing response surface methodology for research project, as well as to provide exposure to students on how to design experiment and do the statistical analysis. Meanwhile, this structured course provided a platform for students to share their problems and challenges while completing their postgraduate study, not only from academic wise, but also some other problems they might face during do experiment and statistic. It was an honor to have PM Dr. Roshanida from SCEE with us to share his professional and valuable knowledge.

Based on the participant feedback, majority of them were satisfied with the useful information and comments during the program and they hope there will be workshop with extended time related to RSM so that they can learn more in details.

About Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roshanida Abdul Rahman

Dr. Roshanida Abdul Rahman is a senior lecturer at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor Bahru. She received her Doctorate from Universiti Putra Malaysia in Environmental Engineering in year 2010. She had obtained her Master Degree in Bioprocess Engineering and her Bachelor of Chemical-Bioprocess from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2002 and 2000, respectively. To date, since year 2000, she has been servicing UTM for the last 16 years, started as a tutor and continuously to flourish as an associate professor as well as an active researcher.

Dr. Roshanida Abdul Rahman is an established researcher with her research interest are mainly in bio-conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into fuels, chemicals etc; enzyme production, optimization, immobilization and applications; biological wastewater treatment and design; optimization of bioprocessing parameters using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and in bioprocess and fermentation technology using bacteria and fungi. Her full commitment and continuous interest in research have granted her with various research funding supports from various bodies and agencies in Malaysia. To date, she has led various research grants with the amount of research grant funding received so far is approximately RM 800,000 as a project leader. She also actively contributes as a co-researcher for other research grants. Her success in securing various research funding is due to her well-known records in completing all the projects and of course, most importantly because of her promising research works which are mostly within the interest of the country for prospectus to be scaled up and potential for future benefits.

Dr. Roshanida Abdul Rahman is a professional engineer which is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Chemical Engineers UK. She is also a member of The Institute of Chemical Engineers UK (IChemE), The International Water Association UK (IWA), The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and Malaysia Society for Engineering (MySET).
