The third postgraduate structured course entitled “How to develop professional profile for career enhancement” has been successfully conducted by Postgraduate Student Society of School of Electrical Engineering (PGSS-SKE), Postgraduate Student Society of Faculty of Science (PGSS-FS), School of Graduate Studies (SPS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with Graduate Students’ Association (GSA), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on 9 January 2022.
The course aimed to guide and provide tips to students on how to develop their own professional profile including resume and LinkedIn profile. The program went for about 2 hours online via Cisco-Webex meeting. There were a total of 146 participants including undergraduates and postgraduate students from UTM and UTHM as well as from other universities.
The first session is on resume writing. The appointed speaker of the session is Dr. Raimi bin Dewan @ Abdul Rahman who has experiences working in various multinational company and also conducting resume-related workshops. The moderator started the session at 2:30pm by introducing the topic and speaker. The speaker shared some dos and don’ts on writing an effective resume. The session ended at 3:35pm after the Q&A and group photo session. The second session is on LinkedIn profile. The appointed speaker of the session is Dr. Eyu Chan Hong who has experiences getting freelances jobs from LinkedIn, optimizing LinkedIn profile, creating content and getting connections on LinkedIn. The session started at 3:35pm and Dr. Eyu shared the purpose of LinkedIn, the functions of LinkedIn in job seeking and creating connections, the sections of profile, and tips in optimization profile. The session ended at 4:30pm after the Q&A and group photo session.
Based on the feedback, the participants responded that the session is relevant, great, useful and well-organised.
