JOHOR BAHRU, 6 Dec 2021 – The past postgraduate structured course entitled “How to Thrive and Survive In Postgraduate Study” was successfully conducted by committees of PGSS SKE 20212022/1. The course aimed to guide and provide tips to postgraduate students on their postgraduate journey in various aspects including time management, research, thesis writing, publication, viva. The duration of the program is approximately 2 and a half hours online via WEBEX. There were 79 participants in total including undergraduates and postgraduate students from UTM students as well as from other universities. All seven committee members of the society cooperate well to carry out the program successfully.

The appointed speaker for the course is Prof. Dr. Jafri Bin Din. He presented on the entire postgraduate journey and shared essential knowledge such as advisor, demands, hardships and methods to deal with them. He emphasized on the right mindset to think like a doctorate student instead of an undergraduate student. Next, he shared tricks a trade that makes the postgraduate journey easier. He encourage us to present our research at a conference and shared his personal experience at European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) Paris 2017. Lastly, he shared the tips to tackle the oral exam and how to handle the pressure-filled day. In conclusion, Dr. Jafri reflected on the strategies and factors that influence PhD success. The participants have a fruitful session from the course and the course has met its objective.
