JOHOR BAHRU, 14 March – The fourth postgraduate structured course entitled “Future of Engineering” has been successfully conducted by Postgraduate Student Society of School of Electrical Engineering (PGSS-SKE), School of Graduate Studies (SPS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 14th March 2022.

The course aimed to expose postgraduate students to knowledge on the future of engineering, including but not limited to demands for emerging technologies, future of engineering jobs and skills required, trends in telecommunications, sustainable development, merger of engineering and business, possible career path, research­ industry collaboration. The program went for about 2 hours online via Cisco-Webex meeting. There were a total of 69 participants including undergraduates and postgraduate students from UTM as well as from other universities.

The appointed speaker of the session is Associate Professor Dr. Rozeha Binti A. Rashidaimi bin Dewan @Abdul Rahman who has been involved in many IoT based industry projects. To date, she has led more than 20 projects as the principal investigator and about 40 projects as co-investigator under various types of grants that include national, industry, community and university grants.

The moderator started the session at 2:30pm by introducing the topic and speaker. The speaker shared the current engineering trend and the way it’s going to in the future. Focusing on the future trend of communication technology such as IoT which is the key of lndustry 4.0.

Before the session ended at 4.30pm, the speaker had excellently answered and responded to the questions raised by the participants.
