JOHOR BAHRU, 22 March – The fifth postgraduate structured course entitled “How to Publish High-Impact Papers: Strategies and Insight” has been successfully conducted by Postgraduate Student Society of School of Electrical Engineering (PGSS-SKE), School of Graduate Studies (SPS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 22nd March 2022.

The course aimed to e share knowledge with postgraduate students on high impact publication, strategy and tips for journal writing, submission and review process, tips in addressing reviewers’ comments, and strategy forwriting reviews survey paper. The program went for about 2 hours online via Cisco-Webex meeting. There were a total of 111 participants, including undergraduates and postgraduate students from UTM as well as from other universities.

The appointed speaker of the session is Associate Professor Dr. Bruce Leow Che Yen, who has been a Research Fellow with the Wireless Communication Centre, Higher Institution Centre of Excellence UTM. He is involved in the R&D in 4G LTE and 5G. He is among the pioneers for 5G initiatives in Malaysia to promote 5G R&D collaboration between industry and academics. He served as the Secretary for 5G Working Group from 2014 to 2018 and he was recently elected as the Secretary for IMT & Future Networks Working Group in Malaysia Technical Standards Forum Berhad (MTSFB) to accelerate the adoption of 5G IMT-2020 Standard in Malaysia. He is also the elected Executive Committee of the IEEE Malaysia Communication Society and Vehicular Technology Society Joint Chapter since 2017, where he is responsible for technical program development for the local industry. In addition, he regularly conducts short courses on 4G Long Term Evolution and 5G for the telecommunication industry. To date, he has accumulated more than 400 hours as a professional trainer on 4G and 5G technologies.

The moderator started the session at 10:30am by introducing the topic and speaker. The speaker shared the strategy and tips for journal writing. Focusing on the Submission and the review process. Given the tips in addressing reviewer’s comments with strategy for writing review/survey paper. He received a thorough attention of the participants with an online quiz on the explanation and objectives of the course.

Before the session ended at 12.30pm, the speaker had excellently answered and responded to the questions raised by the participants.
