22 March, Johor Bahru – This course featured Dr. Mariam Firdhaus binti Mad Nordin from MJIIT as the speaker. Entitled IKIGAI: Discover your hidden potential, this course aimed to help student in understanding how their research could contribute back to the community while unlocking their inner passions. The program began at 10 am with a short opening by moderator followed by presentation by the respected speaker. Dr. Mariam, a senior lecturer at MJIIT and founder of HALEA (natural skincare brand), was appointed as the speaker due to her well-known achievement in establishing her own company and products based on the research activities. It was stated that the involvement of her postgraduate students in the research activities have played major roles in the development of her products. Therefore, she encouraged all students to explore how their research can aid the local community and contribute back to the society. She also mentioned that the profit should not be the main goals, rather it was the satisfaction to bring happiness and create job opportunity to others. The participants then queried about the supports from university and government for lecturers and students to commercialize their research findings. The course completed at 11.20 am with a group photoshoot.
