24 July, Johor Bahru – The structured course entitled “Tips and Tricks To Publish In High Impact Journal” was held on 14th April 2022 from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. virtually in parallel session. The speaker for this workshop was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharidan Shafie, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chong Chun Shiong, Assoc. Prof ChM. Dr. Roswanira Abdul Wahab and Prof. Dr. Sib Krishna Ghoshal. The speakers shared their knowledge in different breakout room which include the speakers from Mathematical Sciences, Biosciences, Chemistry and Physics respectively. In overall, there are 75 participants from both UTM and other institution which 64 participants from UTM, 1 participant from Non-UTM and 10 participants from other universities, have joined this workshop and majority of them are Ph.D. students. The undergraduate students and lecturer from other institution also participated in the workshop.
All of the speakers have shared the tips on how to ensure the research conduct will have a higher chance to publish in high impact journals. The speakers also advice the participants to survey and read the guidelines of targeted journal to find out the most suitable journals to publish the articles. Furthermore, the importance of clear illustration or graphic to enhance the understanding of reviewers and readers had been highlighted by the speakers. A sufficient question and answer session had been arranged to provide the opportunity for every participant to solve their doubts. In the end of the session, the speakers also shared their experience on solving difficulties and obstacles when conducting research or writing article to encourage the participants to move on when they face similar problems.
Based on the feedbacks of participants, all speakers are managed to deliver the tips and tricks based on respective area to the participants. In overall, the course had achieved the objectives and all the participants gained a lot of knowledge from this workshop.
