Quantitative Research is often used in social sciences and humanities research. However, there is lack exposure of quantitative research among postgraduate students. By acknowledging this fact, the Association of Graduate Students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (PGSS FSSH) has organized a structured course entitled “Advanced Quantitative Research in social Sciences and Humanities” on May 23rd May 2022. The program was conducted by our PGSS team and led by Mr. Iswaran.

The two-hours structured course was delivered online via Webex. It started at 11.00 am until 1.00 pm and included a Question-and-Answer (Q&A) session between the panel and the participants. In the pre-registration phase, there were more than 152 registrations and only 138 participants (across the faculty) have attended the program until the end. The majority of these participants were PhD students (from first year to more than five years) compared to Master’s students. At the end of the course, the invited panel Prof. Dr. Siti Aisyah Panatik Abdul Rahman has received positive and constructive feedback from the participants regarding the knowledge sharing session.

According to the feedback given by the participants, this event was very helpful and beneficial for them in preparing their research methodology in order to overcome the predictable weakness and biases. The participants also appreciated that the session was very detailed, informative, and interactive. Moreover, they stated that the speaker was clear and straightforward in answering their questions, therefore, each of the participants’ curiosity was answered during the session. Thus, it is hoped that this kind of programs will be organised again in order to help postgraduate students to learn more about research.
