21st June 2023, JOHOR BAHRU – The course arranged by PGSS MJIIT focuses on the skills of writing and publishing a high-quality scientific publication. This course was divided into two main sessions, the first of which was a lecture by Prof. Saiful Amri. The second session was the coaching session where participants’ manuscripts were assessed and some reviews were given for improvements. The speakers also shared the do’s and don’ts of producing high-impact scientific articles.
The course was aimed to help participants develop a clear and concise writing style, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in scientific writing. In addition, this course guided participants on how to write compelling abstracts that accurately summarize their research, highlighting key findings and implications. Overall, the participants give great feedback on this course and requesting for another session like this in future.
OBJECTIVES
1. Enhance clarity and precision: Help participants develop a clear and concise writing style, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in scientific writing.
2. Improve organization and structure: Teach participants how to structure their scientific papers, including the proper use of headings, subheadings, and logical flow of information.
3. Develop effective abstracts: Guide participants on how to write compelling abstracts that accurately summarize their research, highlighting key findings and implications.
4. Refine data presentation: Teach participants techniques for effectively presenting data, such as creating clear tables and figures, selecting appropriate visualizations, and interpreting results accurately.
5. Strengthen scientific arguments: Help participants construct persuasive arguments by emphasizing the use of evidence-based reasoning, logical connections between ideas, and critical thinking.
