18th July 2023, JOHOR BAHRU – PGSS FCE was pleased to conduct the online structured course which entitled of “Data Science. In The Construction Industry” on 18th July 2023 through Cisco Webex platform. Prof. Madya Dr. Noormishah A. Iahad was chosen as the speaker for this course. This course was opened to all UTM students and outsiders. A total of 56 sudents participated in this structured course.
The Cisco Webex meeting opened at 9.45 am for participants to log in and the opening ceremony was conducted at 10.05 am and the event smoothly ends at 12.30 pm with a Q&A and photo sessions. Professor Madya Dr Noorminshah A. Iahad obtained her bachelor’s degree in information technology at the University of Malaya. She completed her master’s in information systems Engineering at the University of Manchester and also obtained her PhD at the same uni that focused on Informatics in 2007. Professor Madya Dr. Noorminshah A. Iahad has been the Information Technology Manager at the Research Management Center at UTM for 2 years, and she has been the Information Technology Manager at UTM Research Computing for almost 5 years. Now she is an Associate Professor and Academic staff member at the Information Systems Department of UTM. Apart from that, Professor Madya is currently the head of the Information and Service Systems Innovation Research Group. Last but not least, Professor Madya has recently been awarded the Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (KPT-PACE) Grant, which is worth of Ringgit Malaysia hundred fifty thousand for the Tableau Desktop Specialist Training.
The aim of this course was to ensure that participants are aware of the value of data science in the construction sector, particularly in terms of lowering risks and boosting efficiency. Other than that, is to examine potential study areas for the construction sector and the use of qualitative methods in research.
