12th June 2023, JOHOR BAHRU – The fifth postgraduate structured course entitled “How to Develop Matlab Apps with Graphical User Interfaces” has been successfully conducted by Postgraduate Student Society of School of Electrical Engineering (PGSS-SKE), School of Graduate Studies (SPS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 12th June 2023.
The course aimed to introduce the basic process to develop a Matlab app with Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and to demonstrate the development of a calculator for raw data processing using Matlab apps. The program went for about 2 hours online via Cisco-Webex meeting. There was a total of 56 participants including undergraduates and postgraduate students from UTM as well as from other universities.
The appointed speaker of the session is Dr You Kok Yeow. He was born in 1977. He obtained his B.Sc. Physics (Honours) degree in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in 2001. He pursued his M.Sc. in Microwave at the Faculty of Science in 2003, and his Ph.D. in Wave Propagation at the Institute for Mathematical Research in 2006 in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia. He is currently a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor, Malaysia. His main personal research interest is in the theory, simulation, and instrumentation of electromagnetic wave propagation at microwave frequencies focusing on the development of microwave passive devices and sensors for medical and agricultural applications.
The moderator started the session at 2:30pm by introducing the topic and speaker. The speaker shared the tips on publishing in scientific journal. Before the session ended at 4.30pm, the speaker had excellently answered and responded to the questions raised by the participants.
