Graduate Supervision Course / Supervisory Evaluation Pack (AS103)

INTRODUCTION	This module aims at assessing knowledge acquired and capability possess of a supervisor by an experienced colleague (educational mentor who has already graduated several PhD candidates) regarding PhD supervision process at UTM via mentor-mentee process.
COURSE CONTENT	Involve a mentor-mentee sharing knowledge process. The mentee will be guided by a mentor on best-practices in supervision. The mentee will have to produce a self-assessment write up that describes a supervisor’s beliefs on supervision and supervisory practices, the roles of research students, the roles of a supervisor, supervisory profiles.
MENTOR’S CRITERIA	Professor or Associate Professor with vast experience in supervising a postgraduate student (has already graduated several PhD candidates as Main Supervisor) OR Senior Lecturer with vast experience in supervising postgraduate students (has already graduated several PhD candidates as Main Supervisor. *Note: This applies if there’s a limitation among the current Professor / Associate Professor. The form must be recommended by the Faculty’s Deputy Dean (Academic). The mentor must be from the same field / faculty.
